Porter Heights Ski Trip 2020

This week we have participated in the Year 7 & 8 ski trip to Porter Heights.  It was a blue sky day and everyone had a great time! We want to acknowledge the great team at Porters, and the awesome parent support on the day. Thanks to Alex for taking the photographs.

Year 7 & 8 Porter Heights Ski Trip 2019

The sun was shining and the sky was blue, in between the bouts of blizzard-like conditions.

Strong winds and swirling snow and ice crystals reminded everyone why we need to bring the correct clothing for skiing.

Our beginner skiers were relentless in their pursuit of higher skill levels. Several of them also graduated to the poma lift.

Our beginner snow boarders were tenacious and eventually four of them got to ride the poma lift up the intermediate slope.

Some of our advanced skiers were disappointed that the high winds resulted in the closure of the 'T' bar lifts. However those with a real love of skiing were able to make the best of the day by riding the chair lift (which was closed intermittently due to high winds), practising their jump techniques, and enjoying the intermediate slope in the company of good friends.
We would like to thank all of the parent support we had with us on the day, particularly the drivers and those parents who skied with students. Your support ensures that the day runs smoothly.

We would also like to thank the hard working staff at Porter Heights: office staff, gear hire crew, ski instructors and the lifties!

Ka mau te wehi! Awesome work whanau.
