William Pike Challenge Day tramp

What a great day out! We took climate change into account and walked from school to our destinations. The first walk was through the Omotumotu walkway.  We had some information about Rongoa Māori, traditional Māori medicines using native plants. We found kawakawa, rimu, makomako, koromiko and mamaku.

Our second walk was through Grandjeans walkway to the creek and beyond that to the ancient pine tree on the hill.  We had lunch under the pine tree. Then imagine our surprise when we met up with some students from Grey High, including four past Karoro School students.

We had enough time to have an small explore of the creek before we walked back to school.

Thanks to all of the parents who supported us today: Mark, Glen, Gareth, Kirsty, Luzette, Tracey, Rachel, Sarah, and our great teacher aide, Ms B.
