Tramping Adventures

Several Year 8 girls undertook the overnight tramp to Lake Daniel.  They carried in all of their equipment and took responsibility for cooking their own meals.  They were tÅ«meke wahine toa, strong, resilient, responsible and great fun to tramp with.

Along the way they met up with an old time gold miner, panned for gold and found their fortune!

Tacos for tea... followed by strawberries and chocolate sauce.
Several sorts of sausages sizzling in the pan.
Meeting Mick, an old timer from the Quartzopolis Mine.
Slab Hut Creek, location of a small fortune in gold flakes.

Callaghan's Ridge - William Pike Challenge

During an epic tramp in a torrential West Coast downpour we stopped and built bivvies to eat lunch in/under.

Room for mums too...

Location.  Location.  Location.

Very snug!
Excellent foliage camouflage... if only the tarpaulin had been green!

Time Out

While mountain biking the Mananui Tramline we took a side trip to Picnic Point - local histories for local kids.

Rafting with Te Tai Poutini Polytechnic

An ENORMOUS thank you to the staff and students at Te Tai Poutini Polytech for including us as their clients for the rafting on the Arnold river this week.

We all learned a lot about the safety aspects and skills of rafting.  We also had an absolutely fabulous and fun time testing those skills out.

Tino pai to mahi akonga!
