Kayaking Skills with Tai Poutini Polytech

 

Thank you to Tully, Grace, Brody, Kalani and Phil for the opportunity to build our kayaking skills.  This was a challenging and rewarding session.  We really appreciated the patience shown, trust built, and fun had.  We hope you call on us for some flat water kayaking in the great outdoors next!

Rafting with Te Tai Poutini Polytechnic

 

An ENORMOUS thank you to the staff and students at Te Tai Poutini Polytech for including us as their clients for the rafting on the Arnold river this week.

We all learned a lot about the safety aspects and skills of rafting.  We also had an absolutely fabulous and fun time testing those skills out.

Polly Pekapeka

This week we enjoyed learning about pekapeka.  This learning was ignited by a visit from Polly Pekapeka, courtesy of Forest and Bird.  We took Polly on a few adventures around the school while we worked on our individual blog posts about Aotearoa / New Zealand's pekapeka.  Thanks for visiting!

Karmi had to search to see Polly Pekapeka in this setting.  She has great camouflage.

Polly was exhausted after all of her adventures!

Wilderness Trail Ride - Karoro to Kumara & Return

 

On April 8th Ruma Waru cycled from Karoro School, Watson's Creek through to Kumara and back!  This was an epic trail ride and everyone showed incredible resilience. 

Huge shout out to our awesome support crew: Louise, Tracey, Rachael, Ainslie, Joel, Angus, Sarah, Corrie, and Netty (and Neil).

Most students made the full return trip but a few were brave enough to ask for support and to receive a car ride back to base. 

We covered approximately 44kms.
