Poppies for ANZAC Day: Lest We Forget

Students from Room 8 participated in the Marsden Valley School, Shantytown, poppy challenge.  Enjoy....

In Flanders Fields by John McCrae
B
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
        In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
        In Flanders fields.

Photo Stories

Recently we had the pleasure of a visit from Kennedy Warne, New Zealand author and photographer. After looking at some of his photographs in the New Zealand Geographic and the National Geographic magazines we were set the task of telling a story with six photos. We had to consider the close, mid, and wide shots, the ability to give the story a beginning, middle and end, and to complete all of this within an hour and a half! No pressure!

Meme Challenge

This month part of our photography challenge was to create a meme of our choice.  Here are a couple of clever ones created by Cameron. The challenge is on!

Photographic Challenge

This month we were asked to show our photographic skills. We have different aspects to focus on each week.  The following images came from our 'black and white' challenge.
